Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend

Except for maybe up here…

For some, the Petoskey Stone replaces those glittery gems from the Marilyn Monroe song.

Here’s a test to tell you exactly where you belong on the Petoskey Stone Lovers Scale.

If you can spot the stones in these first few pictures you are a Petoskey Stone Lover of the First Order. You’re able to spot stones at distances so great, that many of your friends believe you can actually smell them. You’re may be obsessed & can spend hours on the beach without once glancing up. Given a choice between a stone & a cookie, you will invariable choose the stone.

If you spotted the stones in the second group of photos you can consider yourself an Apprentice Stone Hunter with all the rights & privileges accorded to that order. You have definitely made it into the big-time but you need to hone your skills. You like the hunt but may be distracted by bugs, planes flying overhead, or sailboats gliding by. Cookies definitely come first with you, a choice you will have to work on.

If you found the stones in the five pictures above, you are definitely a Beginner Petoskey Stone Finder. Welcome to the wonderful world of Petoskey Stone hunting. You have some work to do, but with time & effort, you too will work your way up Petoskey Stone Lover of the First Order. Don’t stress about it, just get out there more often & remember…practice makes perfect.

I know the season for stone hunting is coming to a close, but I wanted to give you a chance to evaluate your skill level & set your goals for next year. All photos were taken by me on the lake & yes…I did pick up all the stones!

Happy Hunting!

Me…I’m off share my stones!!!

About Diane

a long time lover of all things aquatic...swimming, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling...if it involves water...I'm in. Add traveling, snowshoeing in the winter, gardening in the spring, & lots of fresh air & sunshine. Blend with cooking, crafting, great friends & my Border Collie Zack. Toss in some sweet beekeeping. Mix in a couple of great books, my camera, clean notebook paper, & a cool pen & you pretty much have a picture of me. My friends tell me I should also add..."once a teacher...always a teacher".
