What do you get when you take 3 good friends…

Added with 2 energetic family members…(who shall remain nameless)

Mix with one sunny Northern Michigan day…

Toss in a peanut butter & jelly sandwich…

Finish with chocolate chip cookies from the Cherry Street Market.

The answer???

a beautiful kayaking adventure on the Manistee River!

Here’s the scoop.

  • Rent kayaks from Shel-Haven on M-72 west of Grayling.
  • Put in at 612. (that’s a road)
  • Paddle, chat, paddle, chat, paddle…
  • Enjoy the scenery.
  • Eat lunch when you find a shallow or sandy spot.
  • Share the Chocolate-chip cookies.
  • Paddle, chat, paddle, chat, paddle…
  • Enjoy the scenery.
  • Take out about 4 hours later back at Shel-haven.
  • Sigh contentedly!!!

An eating alternative is to either bulk up before you hit the river at a cute & extremely tasty place called Shirley’s just west of Shel-Haven on M-72 -OR- save Shirley’s for the trip home. A great choice either way!

Me… I’m off to whip up my own batch of those cookies…

Homemade is best

PS…I cheated & looked for those Perseid meteors Saturday night…saw 12!

About Diane

a long time lover of all things aquatic...swimming, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling...if it involves water...I'm in. Add traveling, snowshoeing in the winter, gardening in the spring, & lots of fresh air & sunshine. Blend with cooking, crafting, great friends & my Border Collie Zack. Toss in some sweet beekeeping. Mix in a couple of great books, my camera, clean notebook paper, & a cool pen & you pretty much have a picture of me. My friends tell me I should also add..."once a teacher...always a teacher".
