Here’s how to interpret your results…

imagesCAD8JBAC1 – 3 correct answers – It’s likely you’ve not been having enough fun lately. You may be working too hard or taking yourself too seriously. You’re going to have to do something about that quickly if you want to effect any real change in your life. Consider disconnecting your computer or failing that, use it to look up funny stuff on the internet. Leave your phone in the bathroom for a day or again, failing that, use it to call your friends & ask them the questions above. You definitely need to go to a Halloween party & cut loose.

imagesCAD8JBAC4 – 6 correct answers – you can consider yourself fairly well balanced with the perfect blend of work & play. You must take good care of yourself because you have had the time to take this test & you knew some of the answers. You need to spend some serious time sharing this gift with others in your life who need to lighten up a bit. Attend a local Halloween party & bring your laughter along.

imagesCAD8JBAC7 – 9 correct answers – You need to send me your information because you are definitely a great & fun person! You will also need to throw a party & invite others, both those like you & those in need of your particular kind of expertise. You have a great future ahead of you in any joke telling situation!

imagesCAD8JBAC10 correct answers – You seriously rock, but may need to tone it down a bit. Your brilliance is probably intimidating your friends & they’d like a chance to answer a joke occasionally. If you could harness this energy, you would make a great joke mentor. Go to a Halloween party but try to put yourself in other people’s shoes & let them have a turn. You may find yourself in the somewhat awkward situation of having to explain the punch lines but be patient & kind.

Thanks for participating in the Torch Lake Personality Inventory

I’d love to hear about your results!

This is a Cautionary Tale

Let this be a warning to you & all your friends…

imagesCASQO6TV

Like the song says, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”!

imagesCAQBY74S

This past summer, a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, shared one of her beauty secrets. It involved applying hydrogen peroxide to her face with a cotton ball. I think Forrest Gump might say “Beauty is as beauty does”.  You see, my friend is beautiful, so my thinking went something like this…She is beautiful & puts hydrogen peroxide on her face…ergo, if I put hydrogen peroxide on my face, I’ll be…you get the drift.

untitled

Bought the peroxide & cotton balls, applied it faithfully for several weeks, & waited patiently for the beautifying results. One day while applying my make-up, I actually looked at myself & noticed that my eyebrows looked different. Nothing radical, just a bit lighter. Didn’t really stress much over the fact, just finished the make-up job & continued on my merry way. Three days later, brushing my hair, I noticed the same thing, my eyebrows definitely looked light. At first I thought it might be the sun working its summer magic. After all, as a child summer always turned my hair white blonde.  Even briefly considered the fact that these eyebrows might in fact be turning grey! Not a thought I cherished, but still didn’t pay much attention…was running late.

The next morning the proverbial penny dropped. I finally managed to put two & two together. I know you’ve already finished this story…yes I was putting the hydrogen peroxide on face & yes I was putting the peroxide on my eyebrows, hence the change.

But here’s the thing…don’t you think a friend would WARN you NOT to put that stuff on your eyebrows??? Don’t you think she/he would keep your best interests at heart? Isn’t that what a friend would do?

What a great reminder that it doesn’t really matter how old you are or what life experiences you’ve had, a surprise could be waiting just around the corner. In reality every time I see hydrogen peroxide now my friend comes to mind & I crack up. It’s hard to come to grips with the fact that I could do something so incredibly dumb however it’s become one more memory in a long line of friend memories.  Isn’t that what friendship’s all about…creating endless great memories that make you can laugh or cry as the years pass.

So today’s blog is dedicated to all my friends & yours. It comes with hugs, smiles, & thanks for making all of our lives so much richer. Do yourself a favor today, touch base with a friend & share an old memory…or begin a new one. An old Girl Scout song says,” Make new friend, but keep the old. One is silver & the other’s Gold”.

Me…I’m off to share some hydrogen peroxide with these girls I know!!!!

PS…I know the real Forrest Gump quote…I just used poetic license.

Leaf Colors 101

You may not know this…

but once, a while ago, before Earth was all practical & proper, her colors were kept by a  wizard who knew exactly how to place them all across Earth’s lovely face. He kept special pots for the blues of her waters & skies, bright pinks, yellows, & purples for her flowers, & some extra-large pots of the greens for her plants & the leaves of her trees. Being a wondrous wizard, he used his skills & pots to paint Earth in her amazingly beautiful way.  Things looked all-together great & Earth was happy.

Alas this wizard had a bit of a weakness when it came to spirits, especially the kind you find at places like Short’s ( www.shortsbrewing.com) ,  the Jolly Pumpkin, (www.thejollypumpkin,com) , or North Peak (www.northpeak.net) . He was always very careful to lock away his pots when he went after his pints. But as you might have guessed, one night he forgot to be careful & so the pots of paint were not locked up.

This wizard, being a gregarious sort of character went out for a pint & was casually convinced to indulge in several more. Being in such a joyous mood when he returned home he grabbed his brushes & decided to give beautiful Earth a bit of a touch up. If you’d like to see the result…keep scrolling!

Obviously the results were disastrous & at first Earth was outraged! How could she ever show her face again? She ranted & raved while the wizard nursed a mysterious headache. But being the gentle Mother Earth that she was & still is, she finally relented & began to see the humor in it all & to even enjoy her new look. The wizard of course apologized profusely & promised to correct the error immediately.  He whisked the leaves away & spent the winter painting all her leaves green again.

But Earth had the last laugh. She decided that each year, she would remind the wizard of his foolishness…& that my fine friends is why the leaves turn colors every fall.

The End

Me…I’m off to finish my pint!!!

Always compliment the cook!
